Bournemouth plot low-spending transfer window as Premier League new boys attempt £1m swoop for Blackpool’s Josh Bowler

BOURNEMOUTH want to keep spending low in the Premier League — and plan a cheap offer for Josh Bowler.

The Cherries bid more than £3million for the Blackpool winger, 23, in January but will try their luck at £1m.

Bowler netted eight times across all competitions for Blackpool last term.

However, the player wasn't present for the final three games of the Championship season.

Manager Neil Critchley put Bowler's absence down to "fatigue".

Scott Parker is targeting loans and free agents — out- of-contract Blackburn midfielder Joe Rothwell, 27, joined on Friday — as they tighten their belts.

They do not want to spend big like they have in previous years.

However, as SunSport revealed, Parker would like to bring in FOUR new defenders.

Parker wants to sign two central defenders and both a right and left-back to ensure that his side are ready for the Premier League once again.

Former West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks has come through the door on a free transfer.

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips was a key part of the Bournemouth defence after joining on loan in January and there is interest in seeing him return on a permanent deal.

But the Reds have slapped a £15m price tag on the defender - who made 17 Championship appearances for Parker's side last season.

Meanwhile, Turkish giants Besiktas have made a £2.5m bid for Reading’s Lucas Joao.

The striker is in the last year of his deal with the Royals.
