MMA star Gina Carano has confirmed her proposed mega-fight with Ronda Rousey "could happen".
The former Strikeforce and Elite XC star, 40, hasn't fought in an MMA bout since losing to Cris Cyborg in August 2009.
But after being called out by ex-UFC fighter turned wrestler Rousey, Carano could be set for a stunning return.
In 2014, the UFC attempted to resurrect Carano's fighting career by signing her to the organization and pitting her against rising star Ronda.
A return for either to the Octagon looked unlikely - until Rousey confirmed to Kurt Angle's podcast that she would fight Carano "wherever she wants".
Rousey said: "I will fight Gina wherever she wants.
"Even if she doesn’t want to forever, leave that offer there.
"It’s a respect thing, not like a, ‘f*** you. I’m coming to get you.’
"It’s just like, ‘Hey, if you ever wanna pull that card out, it’s there.’
"I love her. Thank you Gina for everything you’ve done."
The respect between the two fighters appears to be mutual with Carano revealing she could take Rousey up on her offer.
She told Fox: "You know what? Just never put it past me.
"It could happen. It would be six months from now because I have a lot of stuff I need to do."

"I really want to create, I want to direct, I want to produce.
"I want to give Ronda Rousey a job in one of my movies so maybe there is something we can do there."
Carano turned to acting after leaving MMA, starring in films including Haywire, Fast and Furious 6 and Deadpool.
She compiled a 7-1 record during her time in mixed-martial arts before the painful defeat to Cyborg.
