While playing Minecraft, you’re going to run into many NPCs, or better known as mobs which are short for mobile. Most of the mobs in Minecraft serve a purpose that can range from transportation, materials, XP, or even companionship. Mobs can be broken up into four groups, and it’s all based on the likelihood of them attacking you. There are Passive Mobs that never attack, Neutral Mobs that only attack when provoked, Hostile Mobs that always attack, and Boss Mobs that are meant to be fought in the end game.

All Neutral Mobs
Unlike Passive Mobs in Minecraft, most Neutral Mobs will attack you if provoked. Even though these mobs can hurt and kill you, they do all provide something unique and useful. All Hostile Mobs
Unlike all the Passive and Neutral mobs, Hostile Mobs will attack you the second they see you in Minecraft. So, it’s a good rule of thumb to always have a sword and a decent set of armor when you feel like you’re going to run into any of them. Just like any mob, they do have some useful items you can get from them.
