International payments
Ukraine fee waivers
We are temporarily waiving all fees to send international payments to Ukraine. Our normal exchange rates will apply if you ask us to send the payment in a different currency from your account.
This rate doesn’t reflect the final total payment.
We use mid-market rates (shown above) as reference exchange rates to determine the foreign exchange (FX) rate for most cross-currency payments or inter-account transfers.
The foreign exchange rate for a specific transaction amount is calculated by applying an FX margin to the reference exchange rate. You can find your FX margin by calling us or asking in branch.
We were unable to retrieve your foreign rate request. Please try again or contact us if this keeps happening.
Payment options and fees
You will only be able to send an international payment to the USA.
If you make an international payment at a branch or by Telephone Banking, there’s a £25 fee per payment. If you have a Personal or Premier account with us, international payments are free providing you make them from Online Banking or the Barclays app. If you have a Business account, there’s a £15 charge per SEPA payment.
Sometimes when an international payment is processed, a foreign bank, such as the correspondent bank, may take a fee to process the payment and send it to the beneficiary, or to us, if we are receiving the payment. These charges are known as Overseas Delivery Charges.
There are three charging options the sender of a payment can select.
OUR: Our customer will pay all related charges to a payment they've made – including their bank charges and any overseas delivery charges. The beneficiary should receive the full value of the payment without additional charges being taken
SHA: Our customer will only pay their charges – the beneficiary will pay all other charges and may receive less than originally sent. This is the default option for payments sent to Europe in Sterling, Euros or Local Currency and can't be changed
BEN: The beneficiary will pay all charges related to the payment. Our fee for sending a payment will be deducted from the amount of the payment before it’s sent. Any other charges, such as an Overseas Delivery Charge or Beneficiary Bank charge, will also be deducted before the beneficiary receives the money.
Sometimes, additional charges are taken from payments beyond our control by foreign banks. If the beneficiary receives less than expected, the charging option selected should be reviewed or the beneficiary should contact their bank.

How much it costs
It costs £6 to receive each overseas payment, for amounts over £100 (apart from SEPA and euro payments from the EEA, which are free).
You won’t be charged if the person sending the payment has already agreed to pay the fee.
After Brexit, some payments from the EEA might take longer to arrive, as the bank sending the payment might not be bound by payment processing times anymore.
Viewing payments
You can view the overseas payments you send and receive quickly and easily in Online Banking. You can also see certain payments in the Barclays app.
